Development of Critical Reading of students in Mathayom Suksa 4
by using the Exercises of Cooperative Learning Activities .

Abstract
The objectives of this research were 1) to study the state of basical data ,
problems and the needs of learning process for Mathayom Suksa 4 , in Thai Language department 2) to construct and develop the critical reading exercises by using the cooperative learning activities with required efficiency of 80/80 3) to try out the cooperative learning exercises by using the cooperative learning activities in Mathayom Suksa 4 and 4) to evaluate the satisfaction of students towards the development of critical reading by using the exercises of cooperative learning activities. The samples were 49 students in Mathayom Suksa 4/2, Thakhonyangphittayakhom School under Mahasarakham Official Administrative Organization in semester 2, year 2012 by Cluster Random Sampling. The research instruments were 14 lesson plans , 28 critical reading exercises , achievement of critical reading test, a 40 item ,4- choice which the difficulty index and easiness ranging from 0.45 to 0.68 .The discrimination powers ranging from was 0.30 to 0.73 and the reliability of 0.89. The period using to try out was 20 hours, during 5 November 2012 until 17 January 2013 .The satisfaction evaluation was a rating scale , 5 -level of Likert. The statistics used for analyzing data were frequency , percentage , mean, standard deviation and effectiveness index.
The study results were as follows:
1.The overall level of the state of basic data , problems and the needs of
learning process in Mathayom Suksa 4 , Thai Language department in Thakhonyangphittayakhom School was at a moderate level .The needs of leaning process was at a high level and the state of learning process of students was at a less level but the needs of the students to develop for critical reading was at a high level.
2. The exercises of cooperative learning activities of the students in
Matthayom Suksa 4 had efficiencies of 91.77/ 88.42 which was higher than required efficiency of 80/80 .
3. The achievement of the students after using the cooperative learning
activities in Matthayom Suksa 4 was higher than before using the exercises of cooperative learning activities.
4. The effectiveness index of the critical reading exercises by using cooperative learning activities of the students in Mathayom Suksa 4 after learning was 0.7761 . It indicated that the knowledge and ability in critical reading of the students were progressed. The percentage was 77.61.
5. The satisfaction of the students towards the develop of critical reading in Mathayom Suksa 4 was at a high level. To consider by aspect , it was found that the process of learning , and the materials were at the highest level and the others were at a high level.
