Abstract
The purposes of this research were (1) to develop supplementary exercises for reading and writing skills of Thai final consonants for Pratom Suksa 1 Students at Banmuang School, (2) to validate the efficiency of the supplementary exercises according to an 80/80 efficiency criterion, (3) to compare the learning achievements of the students before and after using the supplementary exercises, and (4) to study the student satisfaction towards the supplementary exercises. This experimental research employed one-group pretest-posttest design. The purposively selected samples were ten Pratom Suksa 1 students at Banmuang School, affiliated to Uttaradit Primary Educational Service Area Office 2. The samples used the supplementary exercises for altogether 18 hours during the second semester of academic year 2012. The research instruments consisted of (1) the supplementary exercises for reading and writing skills of Thai final consonants, (2) tests of learning achievement, and (3) a questionnaire on student satisfaction towards the supplementary exercises. The statistics used to analyze the data were the E1/E2 efficiency index, t-test for dependent sample, mean and standard deviation.
The findings were as follows:
1) The supplementary exercises for reading and writing skills of Thai final consonants for Pratom Suksa 1 students had the average efficiency at 85.29/84.22, which was higher than the 80/80 standard criterion;
2) The post-test scores were higher than the pre-test scores at a statistically significant level of .05;
3) The supplementary exercises gained high levels of student satisfaction with a mean of 2.70 and a standard deviation of 0.47.
